What is, why use, and how is Everything DiSC different from other Disc Profiles.


Everything DiSC®  is a psychometric personality assessment that measures an individual’s behavioural style. This research-validated model helps individuals to understand themselves and others to be able to build more effective working relationships that are built on an understanding of their different needs, priorities and communication styles. This increased understanding of yourself and others on a team results in saving time, increased energy and engagement, reduced conflict and improved performance. DiSC  is a simple and memorable acronym for the four primary styles of behaviour seen in the DiSC Circumplex:

  • Dominance (D)
  • Influence (i)
  • Steadiness (S)
  • Conscientiousness (C)

Unlike other personality tests, there is no such thing as a perfect or ideal DiSC profile. Everyone is a blend of all four DiSC styles, although you would have a tendency to lean more towards one or two of the four.  There is no one profile that is “better”than any other profile. John Wiley & Sons, Inc. one of the world’s largest publishing companies, were the first publisher of a DiSC assessment to use twenty-first century technology adaptive testing to deliver the highest levels of validity, reliability and accuracy ever achieved. All other DISC assessment providers are using some variation of a 24-item, forced-choice questionnaire first developed by John Cleaver in the 1950’s.

Not all DiSC profiles are the same.

Research validated yet easily accessible.
With an uncompromising focus on research and validity we ensure that the feedback and insight our tools provide are as accurate and reliable as possible. Each profile report tells a story that the learner can easily connect with and take action immediately putting the insights and strategies into practice. We also keep this story simple while offering rich content that learners can understand and remember. Most personality assessments are written for clinical, industrial, or organisational psychologists or for an academic audience. The Everything DiSC assessment is written for a general audience using neutral language and in fact is written in the first person to the respondent.

Advanced testing methodology.
All DISC profiles are based on the same four dimensions or behavioural traits, namely Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance or Conscientiousness. However, most publishers of the DISC Model products have different questionnaires, even though some are very similar. They all originate from the same 24 item, four words per item, forced choice questionnaire that was developed by Geier and Hendrickson in the 1960’s and revised in 1971. With modern advancements in psychometrics, this type of assessment is now very outdated. 

What sets the Everything DiSC family of tools apart is our current use of a five-point Likert response scale and our method of Adaptive Testing (AT), a computer-based iterative methodology that successively selects and presents subsequent questions based on a learner’s response to previous questions. Most importantly, this type of tailored testing increases the precision of the assessment instrument. We were the first and continue to be one of the only assessment developers and publishers with DISC related tools on the market to use Adaptive Testing. With this technology, a person’s Everything DiSC profile is 32% more accurate than a traditional DiSC Classic profile.

Everything DiSC profiles focus on the complete learning process.
A DiSC profile is not black and white. With the Everything DiSC suite, the products are extremely versatile. Each Everything DiSC profile is compatible with the next, meaning participants’ results can be shown across different applications without retaking the questionnaire. Providing not just an assessment instrument and in-depth profile report, but many follow-up tools that take learners even deeper into understanding themselves and others. In addition, each comprehensive product package is completely customisable for classroom facilitation and includes additional learning platforms to keep the lessons from DiSC alive.

Profiles can be printed in sections to allow control over how much information participants receive at any one time. Even the name of the profiles can be relabelled to match the name of the program you are running.

Ongoing research.
Most other DISC providers continue to use two or three graphs to represent the learner’s assessment results, claiming that the first and second graphs measure adaptive and natural behavior. This is a myth. Years ago, when some of our data looked to point that way we believed this to be true. However, upon further data collection we discovered this explanation to be false, a finding backed by The British Psychological Society. In the early 90s, The Society performed its own validation study on the 24-item DISC questionnaire and concluded that graph one and two were measuring nothing more than different views of self-perception. Current DISC providers who continue to make this assertion are working with outdated and unsupported facts.
